Mission Statement

The Elegant Ladies will assist selected high school students as they transition from high school to college. We will do this by providing exposure to the college enrollment process, assisting financially, career planning, and explaining the importance of physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and financial health.

For it is written: Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Award Components:

A maximum of three (3) $4,000 scholarships awarded to individual students as selected by the Elegant Ladies Foundation Scholarship Committee. The selected recipients will have the opportunity to receive the award for four (4) years providing they maintain all requirements.

Criteria

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and US citizen.
Applicant must be an African American female student.
Applicant must be a full-time college/university freshman in the upcoming academic year.
Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applicants' household income must fall between $30,000 to $100,000. (Must provide proof of income)
Applicant must complete 10 hours of Community Service annually.

Application Process: (Applicant must submit)

Completed application form
One letter of recommendation from a community member
One letter of recommendation from an educator
Official high school transcript
One 350- 500 word essay
Student is required to participate in a interview process
Letter of acceptance from an accredited college/university (to be provided no later than August 1st of the scholarship awarding year)
